What Our Guests Say

The best measure of a safari company is not what it says about itself but what the people who have travelled with it say afterwards. We have been fortunate to work with guests from across the world — first-time safari travellers who were not sure what to expect, experienced travellers coming back for a third or fourth trip, families with children, photographers, birders, and people who had dreamed of seeing a mountain gorilla for most of their adult lives. Below is a selection of what they told us when they returned.

You can also find our reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, where we do not curate or filter what people write. We think the unedited version is more useful to you than anything we could select ourselves.

Before You Read These — A Note on Expectations

Wildlife does not perform on demand. We do not promise specific sightings, and any company that does is not being honest with you. What we do promise is that you will be in the right places at the right times of year with a knowledgeable guide who knows the land. Whether you see a leopard on your first drive or your sixth is partly luck. What is not luck is whether your camp is well positioned, whether your guide knows where to look, and whether your itinerary gives you enough days to let the odds work in your favour. The reviews below reflect guests who understood this — and mostly got very lucky anyway.

The Gorilla Trek — Uganda

“We trekked for almost three hours through steep, wet forest and at one point I genuinely wondered if I had made a terrible mistake. Then we found them — a family of twelve, including a silverback who was completely unbothered by our presence. He sat six feet away from me eating leaves for forty-five minutes. I have been on four safaris in three countries and nothing has come close to that hour.” — Guest from the Netherlands, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The Masai Mara — Kenya

“We arrived at the river crossing just as the first wildebeest reached the bank. What followed was forty minutes of the most extraordinary chaos — thousands of animals throwing themselves into a crocodile-filled river while we watched from fifteen metres away. Our guide had positioned us perfectly and we had the spot almost to ourselves. I do not know how he knew, but he did.” — Guest from the United Kingdom, Masai Mara National Reserve.

Tanzania Northern Circuit — Family Trip

“Travelling with an eight-year-old and a twelve-year-old, we were nervous about whether a safari would hold their attention. It held everyone’s attention. Our guide was patient with the endless questions, knew exactly which animals to stop for, and explained what we were seeing in ways that made sense to a child and an adult at the same time. Ngorongoro Crater on our last morning — lions, a black rhino, elephants, and a cheetah all in four hours — was the day our kids still talk about.” — Guest from Canada, Tanzania Northern Circuit.
